Guests travelling to
Helensburgh by car will find unrestricted free parking to the seaward side of
the swimning pool and in the streets to the north of the West Kirk. Metered
on-street parking is also available. This applies to the area directly infront
of the swimming pool and the north east corner of Colquhoun Square. However,
charging and restrictions are suspended at evenings and weekends.
Travelling
by Rail: Helensburgh main station sees services to and from Glasgow
Queen Street which has connecting services for Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth,
Inverness and beyond. Services to Oban, Fort William and Mallaig are served by
Helensburgh Upper Station, as is the connection for the nightly sleeper to and
from London Euston (except Saturdays).
Travelling
by Air: Glasgow Internation Airport (via the Erskine Bridge) is 45
minutes by car from here. For Prestwick or Edinburgh allow 2 hours.
Travelling
by Bus: Buses depart Helensburgh main station and from Colquhoun
Square for a range of local destinations. Long distance services, for example
to Portree on the Isle of Skye, can be boarded at Glasgow Queen Street main bus
depot, as can services to other main towns and cities.
Travelling
by Ferry: Passenger only ferries depart Helensburgh Pier to daily
timetable to Kilchreggan and Gourock. Additionally, in season, cruising vessels
such as PS Waverley and PS Balmoral call at Helensburgh and can be utilised to
visit other Clyde resorts.
Car
hire: Whilst public transport is plentiful, for those wishing to drive
themselves, local car hire is available. For daily, weekend or longer term hire
