Anyone walking along Rose Street from west to east will find that Scott's is one of the first pubs they come to, dominating its corner plot on the south side of the street.

The name came from its redoubtable landlady for many years, Mrs Scott or Ma Scott who had a reputation for being the only person in the establishment ever to touch the till: and for ejecting anyone she took a dislike to.

Inside, you find a very traditional Scottish bar: dark wood floor and furnishings, and panels half way up the wall. One unusual feature is the position of the bar, which occupies the outside of the corner between the main and side streets, effectively taking up most of the available window space and leaving the interior of the pub rather darker than you'd expect from its bright and very attractive exterior.
