![]() The Hebrides |
The Hebrides is found on Market Street, not far from the southern pedestrian entrance to Waverley Station. Located next door to the Doric Bar and beneath the upper floor Doric Bistro it is surprisingly easy to overlook: yet as its regulars and generations of tourists who've found it know, that would be a shame.

As the very large relief map on the wall makes clear, the Hebrides is named after the island group often also known as the Western Isles. We've seen the pub described as a little piece of the real Hebrides transplanted into Edinburgh. We actually think you'd be lucky to find anywhere quite this lively on the far side of the Minch.
The Hebrides is a small pub, with a table in the front window and more at the rear: but the focus of life here is gathered around the bar. And despite its size, the Hebrides hosts live music from Thursday to Saturday evenings and on Sunday afternoons, at which times it can become extremely busy.
