Breck's stands on the corner of Rose Street and Rose Street South
Lane. It is named after Alan Breck the fictional Jacobite who accompanied David
Balfour on his trek across
Scotland in Robert Louis Stevenson's novel "Kidnapped".

Internally a large island bar occupies much of the front room, and
a passage leads though to the comfortable rear room.

Those who haven't been to Edinburgh for quite a while may remember
Breck's as "The Goblet", whose two bars were converted into one when the change
of name took place.
