![]() The Abbotsford |
Near the east end of Rose Street, the Abbotsford is a fine example of a traditional Scottish bar. The island bar and gantry were fitted when the pub opened in 1902 after being recovered from a disused pub nearby. There is a restaurant upstairs and diners can order beer which is brought up from the bar below.

The comfortable and traditional feel is enhanced by the wood panelling which extends part way up the walls, and if ever anyone produces a "good pub ceiling guide" to Edinburgh's pubs, the Abbotsford will certainly feature. Seating is available either side of the central bar or at the ends of the pub.

One of the popular real beers on offer is Abbotsford Ale. This is actually brewed by the Atlas Brewery in Kinlochleven and badged especially for the Abbotsford.
